Eh, I'm sorry, but that is not normal. Confused Not if it interferes with your daily life.

That is to say days where regular function is impaired, as with sleep deprivation.

Actually it is pretty common.

RE: Depression

Disclaimer: These are my general thoughts on the topic of discussion. I have not read much of what's been posted so i'm not really directing this at anyone else *here*.

Funny thing about depression is how it affects different people in different ways. Then there are the people that are self-inflicting depression like symptoms on them because they're reaaaally negative people. When I was 13-15 years old I was a REALLY annoying person. Always being negative, always being down in the dumps, overplaying everything, always being moody. But that's a phase i'm damn glad that's behind me. That's why psychologists/counselors are sometimes bored to tears when the word ''depression'' is mentioned in sessions. A lot of people are just using the word erroneously and are instead just trying to make themselves feel worse, for a multitude of reasons. But that's a phase in the early teens that I think a lot of people get over (not everyone, which is when it turns into a disorder).

I got over that irritating phase of myself when I finally discovered myself. It does a person good to know what he/she's about. I think that's the number one tip I have for people going through a phase or going through depression, tough it out and you may discover something of yourself that will let you know something that's a game changer.Example, I discovered, amongst many other things, that I had a really different thought process than other people and that you can't be liked by everyone and that you can't like everyone. It's such a minor little thing but it helped me a lot. Cognitive thinking is a really important tool for this.

As for depression itself, legitimate depression, it's a doozy. It can affect you physically, as well as mentally. I can't really say i've suffered depression ever, long bouts of it anyway. I've mourned, felt sad at stuff, been really worried/anxious about stuff, but nothing I could say was depression. But I do know enough of it that a lot of people's experience with depression are pretty damned different. Some people only feel incredible sorrow but are able to shake it off and continue with their day (even if it still bothers them) while others are physically affected to the point of not wanting to get up from bed, being tired 24/7, random pains, etc.

Yes, depression is a common abnormality.

You know you're depressed when stuff like this doesn't even phase you:
