Ok let's not mention everyone's personal tastes here. This is uncalled for. Windows 8.x is a perfectly fine gaming platform with many advantages over Windows 7. Add Classic Start and it's a lot better than anything else. You have been rumbling on the forum for like two yeas about that. Get over it! Angry Also if you remove the stock OS on laptops there is a high chance you will run into problems with proprietary software for FN-key management, wifi toggles, keyboard illumination etc. This is not the topic to discuss that but keep such personal tastes/prejudices to yourself next time.

---------

Now back on topic, indeed 12GB are not needed. With 8GB you will be just fine. And don't buy a laptop with the purpose of playing one, two or three specific games on it. It is wrong on many levels. If you want to be able to play another similar game in a year from now with descent settings (not ultra-high or anything) you need to step-up to a 760M or up. That's my recommendation, after that it's up to you.

RE: Processor question

CPU: i7 (4 cores / 8 threads)
GPU: 760M or up
RAM: 8GB

If for these specs you can't find something within your budget lower the gpu to 755M, 750M, 745M etc.

RE: Processor question

@plutomaniac

Not every i5 has 4 cores, it depends on the model.

@simba

Why do you want a 760M? The laptop you posted has a 765M.
For gaming you need everything above 60.

When you want to buy a 1500+ laptop, I recommend this one here:

MSI GT70-20D-811FD for 1599 €

- 17,3" Full-HD LED display
- Intel Core i7-4700MQ
- 8 GB RAM
- nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M (4096 MB)
- 128 GB SSD, 1000 GB HDD

RE: Processor question

Intel's ark site was bugged when I saw it yesterday. It showed that mobile i5 have 4 cores but they are still dual cores like the i3 (all of them). If you step up to an i7, then will you get 4 cores. So my recommendation remains the same as before (i7, 760M or up, 8GB).

When you have the budget, post here again simba.
