RE: Discussion about Depth and other movies

Cheers Chrysler! And thanks for the archived stream, Ash.

It's a bit frustrating to watch if you're interested in SOMA/Depth, because most of the discussion is about a game they're Kickstarting with literally zero information about the film apart from who's working the camera etc. The guy with the glasses wouldn't even say the name of the co-writer for fear of breaking an NDA, even though Mikael Hedberg's name is on the script shown in the photos the crew posted.

When Don said "by the end of 2015", I think a more optimistic interpretation could be "it won't be any later than the end of the 2015". I guess we'll find out more when SOMA's release window narrows down a bit.

Imagos Films Wrote:Tabitha is put on the spot for a personal monologue in #projectapophis! #filmmaking

Tabitha Bastien is the actress. It's the first time that she's mentioned in #projectapophis tweets, and her name doesn't appear on Depth's IMDb page yet.

I wonder if she will play the role of Golaski's daughter as an adult, and maybe the "monologue" will serve as the film's epilogue?

EDIT

Another tweet:

Has it been stated where you can watch Depth? Been doing some lazy googling but I have found nothing.

It hasn't been stated yet. One interesting thing we found on Depth's IMDb page is that a "theatrical aspect ratio" is included with its technical specifications, which suggests there might be something more than an internet release. Wink

Has Depth been given an associated trailer? Or do we just rely on the files on the SOMA page for now?

For now just the SOMA ARG clips.

Has it ben mentioned or stated somewhere, how it all would fit with the game? Is better to watch film before playing the game? Or playing game first will be better?

Did Mikko Tarmia compose the music for Depth, or is someone else attached to the project? I'm curious if the brief music we heard in the song.vid clip reflects his take on appropriate music for SOMA itself and if it will be similar to what we will hear in-game.

We know that Depth takes place in the same universe of SOMA and that it is to be released congruently with the game, which further suggests that the two are closely related.

If we tie together all the information that has been revealed about the game and the films in the last year and a half, Depth seems to serve as a prologue for SOMA (i.e. the events in Depth seem to precede what will happen in SOMA), so it would make more sense to watch the film before playing the game. This is how I see it at least.

Currently unconfirmed, but in July 2014 I found the website of Alex Mauer while sleuthing the web for Depth-related information (he's a composer that works closely with Imagos Films and is also Imagos Softworks co-founder/composer/sound designer), and Depth was mentioned in his resumé under "Selected Credits (film/video)", but when I checked it again a few weeks later, Depth was no longer listed there.

Here's a capture of his website from the 8th of June 2014:

Alex Mauer Wrote:selected credits (film/video):
2014 Imagos Films - Depth (feature) - original score

But, officially, it remains unconfirmed.

RE: Discussion about Depth and other movies

The release date of Depth has been updated on IMDb to match SOMA's: 22 September 2015.
