RE: Windows 7 vs. Windows Vista vs. Windows XP

I'll try to get my hands on Windows 7 this weekend. I don't know how you buy it or where though. There's a place I can get it really cheap, but then it will probably get snailmailed to me and not arrive until Monday.

Worst regards, Kejdane.

I have no experience using Windows 7.

However, I have had lots of problems with Vista, especially with games, and I prefer using XP for gaming. However for other purposes I feel Vista might be better.

I mean, computer technology and software evolves at a steady pace and you can´t get stuck in the past... can you?

RE: Windows 7 vs. Windows Vista vs. Windows XP

Having WinVista as a transition from XP to Win7 really made the latter shine so bright for me. XP worked very well, but gotta say that Win7 takes the cake, it is just so smooth. And so effortless. It doesn't have its own evil mind like Vista does.

And so lightweight, even on my aging laptop.
We get it for free through uni so I figured I could just give it a go, right? And I don't regret that.

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

That's the best Windows ever!
Well you couldn't use DirectX 10 or 11, but all the games are compatible with DirectX 9.
You doesn't have best graphic-quality but the Windows works very well and fast.
It's the once fully 64-bit-Windows. Vista-64 and 7-64 doesn't have full 64-bit-address-space.

In future you couldn't use XP-64 because its too old.
But the once point is the old DirectX-support.

There is one game called Shattered Horizon which doesn't support DX9 even though it would look completely fine on it, but that's a terrible mistake the devs made considering it's fucking awesome.

You can use DirectX 10 on Windows XP.
Though that needs a certain patching...

Problem with it is, that Windows XP isn't made to use DX10, so it's very heavy when it's using it. But it works...

You can Google it if you want more info.
