Graphic problems with ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2

For the first time ever, I had graphic problems on Penumbra: Overture!
Though, I have had no graphic problems before on any of the games...

But enough of that! If you're using the same graphics card driver, keep on reading, hopefully this thread will help you out!

So, I had:

1. Some polygons/pixels were missing, like ground in the blizzard (at the beginning of Overture) and rocks were missing bottoms. Just like barrels did. They're bottoms were black.

2. Sometimes, when I was using glowstick, it didn't have glow around it. The stick was green but no glow. And second thing were that the screen had some green dots around the glowstick. As well some glitching with the glowstick...

But you may ask:
What can I do with this?!

Well, many of you might read the following sentence from here on the Forums:
Update you're graphic card drivers.

If you haven't done that, do it right away. That MIGHT cause you're problems.
However, on my situation, it wasn't that...
I did have all the latest drivers for my graphics card.

Problem with the game I faced was this:

I installed fresh installation of Penumbra: Overture from my CD and it didn't have the latest patch.

Install 1.0.3 version of patch and you're game works all fine.

The new ATi Catalyst graphic driver have a problem with some games.
I've heared that there are flickering objects in Gothic 3. That's a driver bug!!!
There can be problems in other games too.

You should install the Catalyst 9.2.

This driver haven't problems with games.

And in Vista you should start the game with administrator-rights.

Hmm... I do have Gothic 3 but I've never managed to play it a lot, thanks to games 'guru' crashes, which I hope that have gone since the 1.70 CP patch that they released few months ago. But I've never seen any of those flickering objects in game when I played last time with ATI's card... Though I cannot remember which version of Catalyst I was using then.

But as you can see, with Penumbra: Overture, problem was the patch, not Catalyst. :
