RE: Engine Capabilities

Thanks for the reply.

So on the off chance that someone making a mod campaign ends up making a polished fully fledged game, would frictional be open to making some kind of deal for selling or somesuch. (No plans or anything, only really plan on messing around with the tools but like to explore the possibilities as well and know what is and isn't off limits.)

Always possible, no reason to say no should something get that far. But as Thomas said in his first post, the modding capabilities have not been made to allow full and total freedom of what you can do. Basically what we have concentrated on is making it easy to make shorter custom stories/levels to play, with a nice support for starting them in game.

RE: Engine Capabilities

Cool.
Last questions.
So are we able to create custom assets and import them as well (textures, models etc.)?
Also what kind of controls are available over ai (other than just placing them and then they run at you lol)?
Just asking because I have a campaign idea that should be doable and am wondering what sort of restrictions I would be under (of course general gameplay but thats not what this question addresses (at least I don't think so...)).

RE: Engine Capabilities

It definitely allows for custom assets. Otherwise these videos would serve no purpose other than shove the developer's privileges in our faces.

RE: Engine Capabilities

Care to explain for a non-coder what you CAN do and what not with the ingame editor?

I'm fairly curious about it right now Smile

RE: Engine Capabilities

Would it be possible to turn off sanity effects entirely for a level?

Or even better yet, be able to trigger one?

I think if you modded the game it's possible, but as like an in game setting. I don't think so.

RE: Engine Capabilities

You can turn them off completely or trigger them, there are lots of different types and all can be controlled if I recall correctly.

And there was much rejoicing! Big Grin
