You can't say that the game is unfinished or sloppily put together simply because some parts of the story don't add up 100%.

Many mystery or horror stories and games do this. I actually like it. The developers probably didn't feel the need to explain every tidbit of information, but covered a majority of it. Leaving small things unanswered only adds to the mystery.

For 5 years development i think this game has sloppy glitches and bugs and this game could be made with Doom3 engine, almost looks the same but at least monsters where not as Glitchy as they are in Amnesia...
Here are some things i think made the game look cheap:

-Monsters that get Glitched/stuck on objects that you can move while they where chasing you.
-Monsters that don't see you when you hide 2feet away from them(i'm not talking about water monster, what seems to be a smarter one then the ones you see)
-Monsters that actually see you hiding but by just turning away your head to the other direction (Like a wall) makes them lose sight at you...
-Monsters can't get you and go glitching when you jump to higher places like: Table, chest, sewer pipes etc, what can be done in almost every place
-Sound only supports 2.1

These monsters are practically a joke for me, i wonder if i'm the only one noticing this cause when i read reviews from people they get scared as hell for glitching monsters xD

The servants used to be contractors and kidnappers hired by Alexander. He then stuck them in the wine cellar and, using poisoned wine, turned them into the monsters now prowling the halls.

The prisoners were sacrificed to keep Alexander alive and distract the Guardian of the Orbs from Daniel.

Or at least that's the way I read things after two play throughs.

Btw, thanks to Ken2u notes I realized that I was wrong. It is not Alexander who is the man in the prisoner's eyes, it's Daniel. Apparently is was Daniel who were assisting Alexander in that torture (didn't recognize his voice for the first time) and "let me go brute" is just an expression.

Everything make sense now.

Actually, an interesting flashback takes place in the wine cellar. When you enter that room with the letter written by the doomed kidnapper, you hear a voice scream that his "chest feels like its bursting", and another voice seems to be experiencing the same thing.
The letter also mentions that, "blood was coming from the eyes," of the writer.
Maybe this is a look into how the kidnappers were transformed into monsters?

That's because we immerse ourself in this game and you don't if you jump on objects or try to make fun out of them Wink.
Read that line again when you start the game:
"Dark room, headphones, immerse yourself"

So you don't need 2.1 if you have headphones. And if you immerse yourself, you will try to stay away as far as possible from the monsters, run away from them (don't look back Tongue) and hide.
You treat Amnesia as a game, not as an experience. If you immerse yourself in this game and believe that you're Daniel, you would never lure these monsters to your position and jump on a tiny box and laugh how they can't reach you. You wouldn't take a risk like that in real-life Wink.
So play this game again like it's meant to be, in a dark room, with headphones, take your time, immerse yourself, forget that this is a game, forget about the game's boundaries and don't try to explore them or any of the glitches. I'm sure your opinion will change Wink.

Aren't they called gatherers? In the library, where you open the secret door there is a note behind a glass monter. If i remember correctly it sais that they soldiers(or smth) that got lost in the woods then their souls got twisted which twisted their bodies themself.

Those just a rumors. It was Baron, Daniel, Wilhelm and his ppl who were stealing other ppl in the woods/villages.

My theory is that they're all Gatherers, and that Gatherers began as the people that Alexander hired to kidnap others. The question, at least in my mind, and perhaps it's already been answered, is whether these monsters were Alexander's creation or a result of the shadow, or both. I think it's unclear (and again, sorry if it's already been shown one way or another) whether or not Alexander controls them, because the reference to the servants themselves always struck me as the kidnappers he originally hired. It should be pointed out, though, that it seems like the monsters do his bidding, as shown when you are captured by them once you have the Orb, and Alexander promptly talking to you once in your cell.
