RE: TRUE PARALLAX THEORY !!!!!!!

So, I truly turned on my Parallax this time and.... OMG WTF BBQ LAG.

Just getting past the main menu was painful to watch. But DANG, the graphics are tight. It's like every stone on every floor and walls just pop out. Very pretty.

Specs:
Q6600 2.4ghz Quad CPU
nVidia 9600GT
4GB of RAM
Win XP (kill me already, I'm tired as fuck of this OS)
1440x900 monitor

Every settings are cranked to high, except SSAO Resolution(Medium). SSAO sample at 32.

I also decided to give it a try tonight. The menu lagged, but I continued to load up a game I had in the wine cellar. To my amazement, once it had finished loading it was butter smooth and the improvement was HUGE, there were a few big hiccups in random places but other than that, FRAPS showed a constant 60FPS. I finished the area and left the cellar and boom, as soon as I left massive lag and the game crashed to a white screen shortly after.

Ahh well, was very nice to see how it could look.

Anyway, my system specs:

i7 920 @ 4ghz
Corsair 12GB DDR3 1600mhz
Asus 5970
Windows 7 64bit
1920x1080 monitor

Everything maxed out except SSAO samples, also at 32.

Maybe useful, even during the lag spikes, none of my hardware was particularly taxed, CPU hovering around 10%, RAM 15%, GPU barely busy at 20%. I'm wondering if the video memory isn't getting full?
