Exclamation NVidia GeForce FX 5500 doesn't work with the game.
Hey Frictionalgames,

I'm 4ndy and have a problem to start the Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Demo (downloaded from Steam)

I like horror games so much, that I first decided to test Amnesia and when it works I buy it.

So, my graphic card is the old GeForce FX 5500. I've thought, that my graphic card should work with the game, because in THIS thread was the answer to the question from another guy with FX 5500 "yes, it'll work".

When I start the game it says that my graphic card has "low budget", but the FX 5500 have all requirments needed for the game, I test it HERE and checked up the requirments matches with my graphic card more then once.

I've already read the "Important problem thread", but I already reinstalled and updated my drivers, too

I totaly want this game! But atleast, it needs to be working with my graphic card..

Graphic Card: GeForce FX 5500
Driver: 175.16 geforce winxp 32bit international whql

Thanks for Help!

So? Does Anyone know how to fix it, without buying a new graphic card?

What I meant, was:
You most likely have to get new graphics card to get it to work.

Afaik, FX series not even Fully OpenGL 2.1/2.2 compliant, this why Amnesia can't start. It uses some extensions your card have no idea about.

The reason is that Geforce FX cards does not support enough draw buffers and therefore does not work with the renderer Amnesia uses.
