Not Solved Right analogue stick is detected but nothing else

I stopped playing Amnesia Dark Descent some time ago but decided to begin playing it again, I started up the game but found that my gamepad wasn't working. I can select items from the main menu and select my file to load but once I'm in-game all I can do is pause the game and look around, it's as if the only buttons that work are the 'Start' button and the right-analogue stick but once the game is paused I can then go through the tabs and options as if there is no problem. I can move and play the game normally with a keyboard but due to an injury I find hand placement for gaming quite painful and thus require a controller/gamepad for my gaming.

I never had any issue before and could use a gamepad without any problems at all, I'm at a loss and can't find a solution for this online or in any Amnesia or Steam forum. Is this a known issue and if so is there a quick fix? I was really looking forward to continuing on the story but this issue is unfortunately preventing me from progressing any further.

I just tried it again and it's the same, I can look around with the right stick and press the start button but that's it, I can't move or open my menu or open doors. CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE?

I'VE FOUND THE FAULT!

The game is f**ked. I went to the button input and when I try setting the buttons it automatically selects a random direction on one or the other thumbsticks. I've checked both gamepads which work perfectly fine on every other game I have. Amnesia is now completely unplayable until it stops registering imaginary inputs while trying to put ion the real inputs.

I can manage to set 'move left/forward' as left-thumb stick up/left is one of the few things it keeps saying, once back in-game I can move without issue but only if I can play the game only turning around one direction and forever moving forward (as long as every door is open and I never need to open my inventory).

I wasn't lucky enough to get this game free, I paid for this game and it's broken. How can I fix this?!!!!!

Not sure if this will fix your problem, but perhaps you can manually edit the config file that contains the user keys. If you go to Documents\Amnesia\Main\<your user>\user_keys.cfg and edit it, then you can change some of the values in there.

This is what I have in mine (I haven't tested it though). It should be the default settings:

If that doesn't work, perhaps the entries can be modified.

If nothing of this works, I'll assume it's a bug with the game and only FG can fix it.
