RE: Status Update: Linux and Mac ports
I was wondering about the Linux release version of the game, now where I live I'm pretty sure my local game dealer wont order Penumbra.
When you order do you have to ask for the Linux version to be shipped or are they both in the same box set ?

the linux version of the game is still not 100% done (allthough very close) so it will NOT be in the boxed version of the game. Most likely the linux version will be available as download only.

We will post more info on this as soon as we have it. Please stay tuned Smile

The linux demo mentioned in previous threads, now works well on Ubuntu 6.10 systems I'm pleased to say.

Thanks to the folks who've put in the effort to get things this far.

I'm definitely going to grab a copy when it goes gold.

Cheers.

What, may I ask, did you do to get it running under Ubuntu 6.10?

Simply made sure that all packages were updated correctly(synaptic), downloaded the torrent, installed and ran.

Given that I did not experience any problems, I thought perhaps you had tweaked the install somewhat.

Obviously this is not the case. My install of Ubuntu 6.10 is not standard however, there are a large number of packages that I remove, as I don't use them.

There are also a number of packages that I add, as I prefer certain applications over the 'Gnome' default options.

I'm clutching at straws here but as I have working installs of Wolfenstein Enemy Territory & True Combat Elite, perhaps there is a package I've installed that is also needed for Penumbra to run.

I'm more than willing to do some research to help out, you'll need to give me some direction on what to look for as I'm no guru when it comes to the command line.

Cheers.

I'm heavily working on it. I have one bug that is affecting both the linux and mac ports. And there are still a few graphics bugs left with the Mac port. I am really trying to target a release this week for the Mac.
