Having actual weapons in the game would kinda ruin the experience of Amnesia. If you're complaining that the game is too scary, that just means you're just getting the full thrill of Amnesia. Killing the monsters with the environment could be fine if done well. For one, it would be better if environment kills were rare, it'd be too easy if you could EVERY monster in the game. But like I said, putting weapons in is definitely a no for me. I'd much rather be defenseless in a game like Amnesia.

well, ok, replacing the lantern with a sort of bazooka or shotgun with a mini light on it, while you hold it with right hand, would be fine. but seriously, no.

But, in Amnesia hill: Harold's story, we can use anything as our weapon, and its fantastic!! Big Grin and also, there is some boss fight there too.. its really freakin' awesome full conversion mod

As far as weapons for Amnesia, I point to Penumbra: Overture. It had weapons, and it as re-assuring to have them. To really scare people, weapons shouldn't be in them (or at least broken by the time you find any so its useless). Now having a tool to break through walls or get past some puzzle, now that would be good. Some examples of this in Penumbra: Overture includes--

1: Making your own explosive to clear a cave-in to proceed to the next level/area.

2: Pickax was used to help break the rock in your way from escaping giant spider tunnels.

3: While technically not a weapon, a lighter was used to set off some oil on the floor to make a fire wall, keeping the spiders away from you.

Hope this gives you some ideas Smile

While you are all talking about this, I actually did have an idea of putting weapons into the game. But I was never going to make them functional. Swords, knives, throwing knives, mostly swords, were going to be was I was going to make. Put them in Amnesia in hidden locations, like easter eggs. Hell, maybe even a black powder rifle..

I would hope someone would find it and carry it with them in hopes to protect themselves, then get frustrated when they die Wink

But alas, I gave up the idea because I was too busy working with Damascus.
