RE: Linux Beta Demo and Feedback (Beta3)

Hello,
It's quite a lot of time that I'm trying to make this game work, with no luck.
The present behaviour is that the game starts, I get the menu, I start a new game, and I push escape to skip the intro. After loading I get some sound that I think is the first scene, but the screen is completly black. No way to exit, and I have to kill -KILL the game.

P4 dualcore 3GHz, 1 GB ram, intel i945 onboard video card.
Debian etch.
Other opengl apps working perfectly.
PenumbraDemo-Beta3 (the patch didn't make difference).
I had to remove all the libraries in libs/ except libCg.so and libCgGL.so in order to avoid the glib version problem. I tried also that 2 libs from the nvidia download with no difference.

Attached is the log. Do you need more informations?
PS: the sound is distorted, but this is a minor problem.

Try turning off the posteffect and possibly set the shader detail to low and see if it is playable. However, you may have to get a better video card as the intel cards are not supported.

I tried, but I still get a black screen. I turned off all the possible graphic options.
I know that my video card has not a top performance, but I expected at least to be able to play the game.
I think i will be able to try with another computer with the same software, but different hardware (nvidia graphic card) to see if it makes difference.
PS: is there a keyboard shourtcut to exit the game when I'm stuck in the black screen?

Not right now. I will be looking at adding that.. You should, however, be able to press "escape" and get back to the menu, as you said you could see the menu.

If you add that feature it would really be nice!
No, if I press esc nothing changes. I'm thinking that maybe what I hear could be a loop of sound and the game could be stuck. The cpu usage is constantely ad 100% (for one core, the other one ~0%). Is there some way I can produce some sound moving blindly with keyboard/mouse in order to check if the game is really running or not?

RE: Linux Beta Demo and Feedback (Beta3)

How do I launch the game?

I have just finished installing it but I can't find any launcher.

In my home directory, I have:
Quote:>ls *umbra*
PenumbraDemo-Beta3.sh

PenumbraEp1Demo:
arch.tar

OS: Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon

edit:
Here's what I get in the console:
Quote:>sh ./PenumbraDemo-Beta3.sh
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
