I must have missed. it..
hmm. this is very strange..
Have you tried removing the HPL2 folder from the ~/Library/Application Support/Frictional Games/ folder?
hmm. I think I have an idea of what is going on.. Can you send me the LevelEditor.log file that is in the ~/Library/Application Support/Frictional Games/HPL2/ after it crashes on startup?

well i tried moving the hpl2 folder to the trash but that didnt work. i copied and pasted the text from the leveleditor.log file after it crashes into a text file attached below.
That is why it's crashing.. It's having issues opening some of the graphics for the GUI.
Can you locate the two files referenced at the end of the log file and see if you can open them in Preview? Also zip those two files up and attach them here. The first one should be 66 bytes, the second one should be 84 bytes.

well i tried opening them in preview but it shows a message saying it can't because theyre empty. and i cant attach the files because the forum says that this type of file "is not allowed." but i didn't know if you meant to do something else to the files by telling me to "zip up" the files...

command click both files and right click (or option click) and choose "Compress" from the menu.
And if they are empty, then it looks like your install is corrupted somehow. You should re-validate the install via steam. Right click on Amnesia in steam and choose properties. then choose "Local files" and then "verify integrity of game cache..."
