Manual save in Black Plague?

I know, I know, it's more fun to play without the manual save. But I don't have a lot of time to play and don't always get to the point where the game autosaves, or an artifact. I went into the default_settings.cfg file and changed the "allowquicksave" to "true", and tried saving a game with the F4 key, but that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Did you check keybindings to see if F4 is quicksave?
