Wasn't Scared? :(

So after months of pondering about Amnesia wether I should get it or not, videos and researching it, playing other Frictional games...
Today, I bought it.
Big Grin

I've been excited for ages about this game. It looked so fun and interesting. I didn't think I'd play it though. Even in the daytime.
But I recently bought Penumbra and thought, I NEED Amnesia Wink

Anyway, I waited for darkness to fall before I plugged my ears into my Trittons and to keep my excitement at bay, I jumped into the level editors and had a little play around with it seeing what could be done, also learnt some useful knowledge of game design!

So, night falls. My Tritton headset goes on. The lights go off.
Now instead of pouncing on Amnesia, I decided to play Justine.
I'm hoping to record a Playthrough series for Amnesia, and I'm not in the right mood for it tonight. I HAD to play though, so Justine it was.

Not scared...
I got to the sewer bit where you have to pull the levers for the doors and in the last room, I couldn't quite make it and the dude with the cog round his neck slayed me.
I'm not sure how far that is? But I was playing for about 35-40 minutes.
I had my gamma on 0.7 so it was as dark as.
Headset on.
Lights off.

I'm a pussy at horror games!
I was playing that bloody 'Candles' freeware at about 2pm and I was freaking out!
Whats going on!?

Anyway. I'm so confused.
Maybe Justine isn't scary? :S
I sure hope Amnesia will scare me Sad

Anybody shead any light?
I'm so confused.
I'm a right wetty at horror games, everything scares me.

People that say "right wetty" is what scares me. Anyways, you may be confused because Justine is meant to be played after Amnesia.

RE: Wasn't Scared? :(

Well, Justine is a lot brighter than the original game. Therefore it uses more of the chasing style scares that imho create not really fear but a kind of "stress" to quickly move on, find the next lever before he gets you and the game ends, etc.

The original game is much darker and it uses a general scary atmosphere while you can save at anypoint of the game. So although you really should have played it the other way around you should hopefullystill get some scares out of the original game.
