Game Crashes to Desktop

Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Game Crashes to Desktop

Hi,

I have just got the game installed it fine with no problems, i then loaded it up, again no probs!

I changed all the settings to 1280x1024 res, sound to hardware, everything on/high

& then was prompted to restart the game.

I did this but now i get the following error..

Delete settings.cfg in "My Documents/Penumbra Overture/Episode 1"

And do not set hardware to true next time you start the game.

Hi, I did delete my settings.cfg file but no luck, so i had to reinstall the game. This time i left the aduio on software & the game runs like a dream. Cheers for the reply.

there is that blackbox thing again
can anyone pm me how to get it like that or so, i can only find a linux version Confused

on topic: probably a openal problem again
whats wrong with it?
for the techdemo we didnt got any of those

Do you have latest drivers for that? (latest are dated 9 October 06)

Could you post the contents of your 'hpl.log' file generated on crash? (located in [My documents folder]\Penumbra Overture\Episode1)

Also, please run this test using the hardware device and tell us if it worked:

The sound test failed, it said i had to check my OpenAl installation??

As far as i was aware the OpenAl installation went thru with success.

Ok, what about the drivers? Are you using the latest? This is most likely driver issue, since Audigys and X-Fis use their own hardware OpenAL implementation, instead of a DirectSound3D interface used for the rest of sound cards.

And please post the log generated when the crash happens (set hardware to true and start the game, and then post the log created after that)
