Hey Guys, I didn´t found any Thread like this, so I decided by myself to open one.
I think I´m not the only one with this Problem.

Ok....
Every time I want to start - Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I´m getting the same message : Display driver stopped responding and has recovered.

And Amnesia is the only Programm/Game which give me this error message.

What I´ve done is. I re-installed the Game.
I verify the Game-Files (I´ve got the game on steam)
I deleted my Display driver and re-installed him.
I updated on the newest Display driver.

I didn´t found any google threads about this problem-.-
and thats really stupid that this is the only game which doesn´t work.

This is my System (if this can help)
- AMD Phenom x6 ii 1055t
- 4GB G.Skill 1333MHz Ram
- Sapphire 6870 @1GB

I`ve installed it maybe 3 hours ago....why should I shouldn´t I have installed a Display Driver?

maybe you had an older version so an update was needed.

If the error continues to appear then it has to do with your computer and operating system, not with the game. Normally this card supports the game at high settings as well.

Display driver not responding has nothing to do with the game. In fact, it usually has nothing to do with the operating system, the model/type of the card, what version of the graphics card driver it is, whether it is DirectX or OpenGL, etc.

Do you have your system overclocked, or have you messed around in the BIOS lately or in the past? This is usually the reason for such an error (i.e. an incompatible setting in the BIOS).

nope, I haven´t overlcocked it. The Fact is, that Amnesia is the only Game which give me this error message, every other game works perfectly.

Try running the game in window mode and see if that works.

I tried it but I get the same error Damn....now are so many good Custom Stories I have to play -.- but...my stupid Amnesia won´t start.

A faint memory of disabling the steam overlay echoed in my mind. Have you tried that?
