Since when are ads showing above the forum?
If you mean Google ads, they were always there, even before I registered on the forums. If you are talking about another thing, then they are most likely because of your browser or system.
Frictional Games added ads one day, they've been there ever since.
Can't remember how long they've been here though...
Just get Adblock Plus--I honestly had no idea they had ads until just now!
Likely added when the forums were sparsely populated places and Frictional was weekly facing financial ruination?
I believe that company as small as Frictional Games need all the money they can get and ads are good way to get income if the site is popular enough.

I can't say I mind since I never noticed them. I'll be sure to complain if and only if they become obtrusive for me, but I don't see that happening.
I think it's because of the color change :p. I also registered a very long time ago, so I think i never noticed any ads since the whole forum got updated.
