There isn't anything I can think of. Could it be something to do with Steam or my video settings? Its as if my computer thinks it is playing but I can't see anything. I can't seem to find anyone else with this problem and it's really bugging me. When I first started trying to play, I had my computer set up in the Japanese region for some other programs I run. I have since switched it back to U.S. I don't think this is the problem but I thought I'd mention it.
can yo go to the menu and change the settings? Maybe try windowed mode or lowering the resolutions/graphics. Test some things over there. Have you tried running the game with administrator privileges?
Okay I just played around with the post effects and I turned off the post effects setting and now I can see! I can actually play the game now but there is a new problem. The graphics are looking really bad. There is a lot of white to the environment where I know there shouldn't be and everything is very blocky and poor looking. I went back and fixed all the other setting except for post effects and still looks really bad. I know that the game is supposed to look better than this and I know my computer can run better graphics than this. Any ideas whats going on?
can you post a screenshot maybe or even a video or something?

The graphics are not rendering properly probably, very strange for such a graphics card. Try deleting all the Penumbra folders from Documents and try again.

I have no idea what this is. Maybe Jens knows more about Penumbra games.
I deleted all the folders from documents and when I started up Penumbra it played the message like it was the first time. However there is no difference in the graphics. Do you know how to get in contact with Jens?
Looks like a driver issue, perhaps some old driver is left and in conflict, trying to clear the drivers completely and then install a fresh driver might help. Or it is a problem with a new driver release, so using an older driver might help. Maybe a corrupted file for the game, so verify the game cache might also be a solution.
1) Download Driver Sweeper and install it. Do not run it yet.
2) Uninstall the NVIDIA drivers and all of their components.
3) Now run Driver Sweeper. Select all AMD, ATI, NVIDIA, PHYSX traces and delete all the results.
4) Reboot your system and then download this:

5) After installation reboot your system again. Make sure that in device manager your NVIDIA card appears correctly and try launching the game again.
I reset the drivers and no change. What were some of your other ideas?
