It's Halloween time and Gizmo's Freeware is featuring Penumbra:Overture tommorow http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/...erture.htm . With around 70000 subscribers to Gizmo's, site traffic here should increase to a great extent. By the way is Penumbra:Overture available as freeware ? It's available at http://games.softpedia.com/get/Freeware-...Game.shtml .

I guess when they see freeware they mean that it is almost free at the moment because of the Halloween weekend.

No, this is the Penumbra Tech Demo which dates back at 2006.
What do you mean by Tech Demo? Limited levels or what?
This game has completely different levels. Same story to find his father in greenland, but this game is only a test.
Not a normal demo with limited levels, but a demo to show the engine, physics and gameplay.
This is the pre-Penumbra game. They used this game for the base to create Penumbra Overture.
And yes, the Tech-Demo is free and full playable, but it is not official part of the Penumbra series.
It's just a demo to demonstrate an early version of first HPL engine.
It has also an interesting enemy, don't you think? Big Grin
I hope they someday make a 4th Penumbra game.
Although it would be nice to see a new Penumbra game, I'm not sure how they would continue the ending of Black Plague, since it's pretty much a perfect finale for the series.

btw, I believe that the tech demo is not a too early stage of the HPL engine. If I'm not mistaken Energetic used the earliest version of HPL while the Tech Demo was built later into the HPL engine development.

Can somebody help me here. I downloaded the free version of Penumbra 1.1 from Softpedia http://games.softpedia.com/get/Freeware-...Game.shtml , installed it and started playing. The intro sequence goes on well and when the game starts the screen is all black and blurry and nothing happens while hitting the keyboard keys or the mouse button. What could be possibly wrong here? Please give me some suggestions. Any help will be appreciated. Can someone play the game from the link and check to see if it's working
