Pizza delivery? Well, "Chief-Translator" implies that it had something to do with language. Studying some alien markings? Translating speech for the mine workers? Computer "language" stuff?

Seriously might be some old language that they found deep in the mind(maybe it was because of the artifacts) and they called Mr.Howard to translate it.

I'd guess he translates laungages between workers, or more likely some ancient laungage (runes or the like) found in the mountain. It whould probably be something cheesy like "Don't open the box". Ofcourse, the miners dont understand this:
"Hey, whats in this box?"- Opens - "EEVVUUUUL FLOOWSSS!!!"

Well, most games/movies with ancient laungage involve a box, house, door, shrine, temple or cave wich it clearly (In Alien laungage) sais above: "Do not enter/open", and the stupid mine workers always say: "Huh, whats this?" "Idk, lets enter/open it and see!".
A few seconds later they got red eyes, wrinkly skin and screams when you point your flashlight at them.
