I want to try using a site called Mixamo to rig and animate a Grunt. It says you need to upload a mesh format that is either FBX, BVH or OBJ. How could I (if it's possible) convert the grunt mesh into one of these formats? So then I could try using this program.

It's possible. Import the grunt mesh into Max/Maya and export it as FBX.
