Whenever I start up Penumbra all of the graphics are garbled. This happens immediately after startup. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile Tech 1.6 GHZ
1024 MB RAM
ATI Radeon Express 1150
in which way are they garbled?
It could be a texture problem, shader issues, artifacts... almost anything ^^
A screenshot would help immensely.

Some general advice:
Try the newest official drivers
check the temperature
try other games with similar requirements
try switching off certain effects (AA, screen grain, bloom...)

Though these might not solve your problem, they might help tracking it down.
Well my problem is not in-game because I can't get into it. The text and logo on the main menu are what's messed up which prevents me from starting a new game. I guess I should have been more specific. I'll have a screenie in a little bit.
This sounds like damaged graphics files. Maybe a simple reinstall would help.
Are you sure that you have the very latest graphic card drivers?
I've heard that if you have Vista, they're should be the latest that you can get with Penumbra...
I tried a reinstall 3 times but to no avail.

And I just updated my drivers today.

Would I need to reinstall again after updating the graphics card?
No need to install game after having updated drivers. Make sure that you unistalled the old drivers before installing the new and also check so there is no program in the background causing problems.
I know this is a noob question but...

I can't take a screenshot of the main menu. All it does is takes a screenshot of the desktop with the game in the taskbar as if it is minimized.

Help?
Try using Fraps
Well I got some screenshots but they look totally different from what is actually appearing on my screen. I'm assuming this could be the monitor's fault. Probably because it is a laptop hooked up to an external monitor. The monitor is quite old so I will look into trying another monitor.

The screenshots are right after launch and I included some pictures from my digital camera to compare to what fraps is seeing and what I'm seeing.

Both pictures are of the main menu. IMAG0053 is what I see on my screen. The other is fraps.
