All the hints! They are there!
And if you play the game a second time you will suddenly realize more stuff:

Spoiler below!

In the beginning when you are carried by the mother and walk past a closet to get up the stairs, what's in the closet?
It's a fucking coat!
The coat monster! Aaaah!
(I'm not mentioning this because if you look in the closet then yes, there is a coat and there are multiple places. But they focused on it! The closet is open just enough so that you can see it! You're supposed to see it!)

Also, one cool thing. The monster doesn't kill you. The monster doesn't break your neck. It picks you up... Just like mother does.

When the coat monster is around, the mothers voice is playing.

Well observed!

I started a new game and I detected another hint right at the beginning. Now that I know what the game is about, it seems so noticeable, haha.

Spoiler below!
Red wine stains on the jumper that the mother is wearing!

I don't know if anyone else has tried this:

In the control options, it is possible to define a key for the console. Then when you're in-game, press the console key and type uncharted in the command line. It will change the view to third person, and will allow you to discover the most horrific fact about the game...

The woman can cut cake perfectly with a spoon?

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one to have wondered about that. Maybe it's a Swiss Army spoon with a retractable knife blade. Or she's got ninja Spife skills.

Another console command you can enter is backerblocks. Once entered, press the B key during the game; you'll vomit a stream of letter blocks. If the game's performance starts to suffer because of the thousands of blocks, type gc into the console to remove them all.

Wait a second... How can the toddler vomit if

Spoiler below!
he doesn't have a head?

Must try both commands together (uncharted and backerblocks)

Jesus...

Spoiler below!
It'd look like a beheading video on Sesame Street!
Late to the party, but I thought the biggest problem with this game was its linearity. Like AAMFP, it featured on-rails storytelling and a "get from A to B" story structure.

That's true.
It's not a first person survival horror exploration game. It's just first person survival horror.
Even the glitches in this game give clues about its plot:
