Like I play any games; the experience.
Amnesia looked like an incredible experience (I watched part of a LP beforehand) and I just had to see for myself. To this day, it is the only game I have that I have not raged at one time.

I played it because I saw it on my brother's computer and was bored. I was enticed by the incredible visuals and level design as well as the great story, and not having played any previous horror games, I played for the unique experience of the whole horror deal. I never even liked being scared, but I liked the difference I got from other games and learned to appreciate this type of horror; the type where you dread opening a door or going down an elevator because you know what will be there.

Because of the ambiance and the story.
I usually don't play horror games because I am too chicken : when I am interested in one, I only watch a LP of it. Even though I liked many of these games (Clock Tower or Fatal Frame for example), I never ended up playing them.
But Amnesia was the exception!
One day I decided to watch a LP because I was bored and I randomly chose this game (I didn't know anything about it at the time).
I fell in love with the atmosphere and the story so much I decided I had to play it.
