I'm having trouble creating the lighting for my levels to make them look more realistic than entire pitch black/fully lighted. I've been trying to follow this tutorial (
http://wiki.frictionalgames.com/hpl2/tut...tutorial_2) but I don't understand how to make a "faint deep" colour.

So I was wondering if someone could help my out by telling me how to place lights on this map:

I'd start by actually putting furniture in before you light the place.
This has nothing to do with lighting but, replace the default walls with the default_extension for the upper part of the walls, looks better, and don' forget about supports, beams, pillars etc.
Put a box light with the amounts: 0.1, 0.1, 0.1. OR 0.2, 0.2, 0.2.
This makes it dark, but you can still see a little bit..
I would put 2 point lights (messing with the colors) in the middle between the 1st and the 2nd lamp, and then one between 2nd and 3rd

Why? I'm not really planning to make it a "furnitured" room, It was mostly for testing.

Try this one then: [Image: cBzRb.jpg]

I know it's hideous but I've had trouble locating the supports etc, but I'll keep looking, thanks!

The reason for doing lighting last is because you can ''style'' it that way, have more logicly placed light sources and put brighter lights near places of importance, always detail your stuff before implementing the lighting.

A giant square room with nothing in it is pointless, it won't make any sense to the player and it might aswell not even be there.

Do you mean size or where am I suppose to put this?
No i mean the colors... "Diffuse color". R = 0.1, G = 0.1, B = 0.1.

It worked perfectly although is there any way to make it a little bit darker?
Lowering the number might be what you need Wink

How about 0.07? You can always try making one of the colors a little but higher number..
Like blue is still 0.1, or 0.13. This will make it feel a little cold.. I used green when i was making my sewer.. Gives a nice look.

Mess with it Wink
