Full Version: Blue screen "Reference_by_Pointer" error when launching

So I just downloaded Amnesia: The Dark Descent from Steam and I get a blue screen error (see below/attachment) with the "REFERENCE_BY_POINTER" error (I wasn't having any luck inserting this file into the post, so I hope you can see it). What I believe is the HPL.log file is also below/attached. My file is called "launcher.log." I am running Windows Vista 64-bit, desktop w/Geforce 295 GTX video card. I've tried
the basic
fixes like disabling SSAO, running on default settings from the launcher with Full-Screen mode disabled, and it's always the same blue screen.

Could it be my virus protection? Because I have seen the "Sandbox" in my Avast virus protection start to come up when I launch the game, and it would freeze and then the blue screen would appear.

You're help would be greatly appreciated, as I am looking forward to immersing myself in this game. I apologize if I missed the solution to this problem, but I am not finding any one else that received the blue screen when launching.

Thanks.

disable any background programs that might interfere
So I disabled everything that I could using Windows Task Manager; and
even disabled my avast! shield protection "for 10 minutes;" Please see
my following attachments for a "before" look of my tasks as soon as my
computer starts up, followed by a screen shot of the task manager after
closing what I believe to be unnecessary, as well as opening Steam, as
that is the program I am using to launch the game.

When using the Steam launcher for the game, the mouse pointer thinks for
a couple seconds, then reverts back to the normal pointer - almost like
it opens for a few seconds then just closes. So I tried going to the
"Amesnia" executable. Once that happens, the computer again, thinks for
a couple seconds, then freezes and goes to the blue screen.

Are there any details I am leaving out that might be able to help you
solve this? Also, if you cannot see my task manager pictures, I will
list them off for you...just let me know. Thanks!
I'm sorry but what the f--- is this..?
