Whenever Amnesia is brought up in a comical way, say, in a cartoon strip or in a parody film,
the Grunt is usually made fun of. The grunt also shows up in memes a lot more. On the other hand, the Brute is rarely mentioned.
So is the Grunt the poster monster for Amnesia, or is the Brute just too terrifying to be joked about?
I think it's because not only is he present for a larger portion of the game (the Brute only shows up about 2/3 through it) but also you tend to see the Grunt up close a lot more (you can get a really good glimpse of him in the Prison, Guest Room, and Storage).
I'd say it's because the Grunt does take part in a larger portion of the game itself, but you also see him more in advertising and amongst Youtube. He's sorta the trademark monster of Amnesia in my opinion, you hear of him most when Amnesia is brought up. That said, I wish there were more appreciation for the Brute, he's an equally terrifying monster. owo

Probably because he looks much more derpy than the brute. After the initial shock wears off, he actually looks kinda funny up close. The brute doesn't, he just looks like someone jumped head-first into a meat grinder.
I think because Grunts are found more often in the game, plus if you see him up close his eyes are derpy.
