to all map makers out there, I have recently played a custom story called hold them out which was an amazing unique map and was thinking it would be nice if someone were to make a map with just a giant room. this room would have a wall with just buttons for each prop (boxes, barrels, etc.), item and monster. once a button is pressed the object tagged by the button would spawn somewhere. I am learning to make maps of my own but I have the feeling that it would the quite some time to fully learn it. If anyone could make this it would be appreciated and hopefully I will be able to make my own maps after this.
also if you could link me some good tutorials, i would appreciate that as well
So...you want a map that's basically a map editor? Mapception!
Haha, no seriously, even if someone gave you a map like that, how would you save your result and make it available to everyone?
Not sure if this is possible, but YourComputer on YouTube has some great
tutorials for custom story making. You should check them out!
This has already been done. It was made for a LPer (can't remember the his name, all I remember is that he's Swedish and named the grunt "Steve"), and it allows the player to pull levers to spawn/despawn:
-a horde of grunts
-a horde of brutes
-a horde of suitors
-barrels
-boxes
-misc. movable furniture
Seems like something very easy to do with some scripting know-how and basic level editor skillz. Good luck though!
I may give this a try. If I don't forget it, it'll probably be done tomorrow.
Spawning and despawning entities (e.g. boxes, barrels, enemies).
