Is it possible to do? or are the specs. simply too low?

Whenever I try to start up blender top begin modeling it throw me an error via the console "Failed to get context..." after a few seconds the console will lock up and Windows will say "Blender has stopped working". After a quick search I found out my slightly aged GPU is my problem.

The GPU's definitely the issue. It's very weak. OpenGL 2.0? Amnesia won't do here.
I know that the GPU is weak but I was wondering if I could even model anything on it. Thank god this is not my primary rig.

Well, now you have the answer.

What Nemet said. What you should do is work on your primary rig. If it's a laptop that you want to work on elsewhere, I suggest maybe getting a weaker program. Maya 8 for example or an early version of Blender, perhaps?

You may still have a problem, so I'd suggest scrapping the first idea I had and just going straight to your other computer. ;] If you have any more problems, most definitely post here.
Pretty true.

64MB VRAM? Quite little if you ask me. I recommend at least 256MB.

True, but with 'weaker' or dated software, you could potentially work with something crappy, like 64mb.

Yeah 256 mb should be min. Usually anything weaker than that... should just be thrown out... >_>
