Yeah so I have been making a custom story for quite a while now togheter with Summer^, however the enviroment I have created are in dire need of some custom models in order to make it believable. I also want to make a new monster, but I dont know what software I should use.

Anyone here have any tips and tricks on getting started with modeling?

EDIT: Big typo in the title, I meant Softwares x)
You need either Autodesk Maya 2011, 3DS Max, or Blender for making models and animation. Maya works best with animation, but Max works better for modeling and UV mapping as I am told. I'm not quite sure about Blender as I tried it for a few hours and uninstalled it. I personally like Maya best. But I've heard others like Blender.

You will need either Photoshop or GIMP to do textures, and both will need a .dds plugin.
It takes a very VERY long time to get well acquainted with the proper software to create 3D models, especially if you're planning on making ones with animations, and especially more if you're heading in with zero experience.

Programs you can use are 3ds Max, and Maya, and a few others. The Developments articles section has plenty more on this area.
Thanks guys, im gonna try 3ds max Smile
I've heard 3ds max is a bit painfully with animations, just remember it. I'm the opposite as Statyk: When I saw maya, I said: LOL, nope. Back to blender.

The latest blender is very good to make models, they have fixed a lot of things Smile
Maya is very complicated for me, and I've never seen 3ds max. Maybe I use it someday.
