I once told a few classmates (who are into Anime) that Anime is the genre where anything goes.
I'm not a fan myself, but I think I pretty much explained Anime in a nutshell.
On the contrary, anime is a genre where bad art style is not allowed.
I've started my re-watch of the awesome Higurashi, and just finished with the first arc. The below may, or may not be considered a spoiler depending on how you look at it:
