Can monsters follow you through different area doors?
I was just in the storage and I got passed the lower grunt, then by much surprise I heard another one by the steps thinking it was going to come out that side door... to which I ran around the corner right into it, but I managed to run out of the storage area [with the feeling of dread as I heard it behind me!] and I quit lol. Can it follow me through into the area I just entered or am I safe when I resume playing?

You mean if you leave the level and load another? No, monsters won't follow you between levels =P

Instead they'll chop off your nipples and make pink fries out of them!

Monsters won't follow between loaded levels.
Can't remember what happened in Amnesia after you entered new area while monster was chasing you, but in Penumbra they always banged the door to make you pee in your pants.
