Nah, they didn't. I liked how you had to use them in puzzles and to break barriers and stuff.
And they were totally harmless you had to hit a dog 3 times to kill it.
The dynamite and the beef jerky however did broke the immersions as I felt it.

As for the tuurngait tomb I hated the part where there were 3 of those buggers running after me while my vision was distorted.
So too many of them would just freak me and not scare me like ow I'm gonna die anyway no escaping now...

The person the email was to must be someone capable of either sealing the mine forever or killing al the tuurngaits that remain. (just as the bigger thingy wants)
Googolplex, a protip for you. If you present your opinions as opinions and not as facts, you will get a slightly smaller angry mob at you heels, just sayin'. I'm personally starting to get a bit irritated. Could you please just share your opinion instead of lecturing us about how you think a game is supposed to be? Because when it comes down to it, it's just your opinion and that's that. And to be frank, most of your suggestions are more suited for books and movies rather than games and game design, just so you know.

On topic, I think a Penumbra prequel would be great!

Cool! Good to see this small idea has generated debate. The question is, who would you the player be? Howard or someone else (like one of the Tuurngait Tomb diggers)?
The plot revolves around me, in my newly washed Laura Croft cosplay.

You take it from here chief, I'm listening.

Elof Carpenter seemed like an interesting character and it felt like he knew more about things than was presented in the game, and he actually experienced truly horrific events, such as an indirect encounter with Frisk (the one crawling in the walls) and a connection to Roberts, whom he find dead next to him at one point (he obviously recognized him as he revealed his name to the player).

Or perhaps Howard, but that would be an experience too akin to what Philip journeyed through.

Wow, I hadn't thought of Elof Carpenter, that is a grand idea! I love it! I already feel excited about this game, and it isn't even made yet! Elof certainly did experience a lot more than any of the other characters introduced to Philip.

It would be a lot of work to make this story, but I would be glad to have you helping out. Nowing having enemies like Frisk and such would mean adding new monsters, unless we can re-skin an already made monster. Maybe that Penumbra Tech Demo 'Hunter'?

You need 6 hits even on "easy".

Don't think I've ever tried it on easy. It's much more fun and challenging to try it on hard. Of course it makes the enemies that much harder to kill. Even a dynamite didn't kill an enemy dog in one shot.

Seriously what are you guys using the broom?!
With the pickax I thought it was only 3 strikes might have been more as spiders were 2 strikes.
It has been half a year since I last replayed Overture.
