I mean come on. Portal, Portal 2, Left 4 Dead, L4D2 and Tf2 are all awesome fucking games, And are all in my favorite game list in my Steam account (except for the L4D2 because I got a bit tired of it). As for Half life 2... well. The story setting is indeed very interesting, I really did like the whole hopelessness caused by this Immense empire that exists throughout universes. But thats about it. The story itself isn't particularly interesting, The characters aren't really that well developed (nor have a particularly good voice acting) and people praise Doctor Freeman as this great character when he doesn't even say a single word.
note that I am okey whit mute protagonist as myself love Amnesia, Dead Space and the Portal games. What I do not like about Doctor Freeman is because in a way he is this Mary Sue character, Absolutely perfect in every single way humanly possible. Its ridiculous really. Every single character (except of course the combine and SOME interdimensional beings) seems to want to give Dr. Freeman a fucking blow job! Even Issac Clark, a 40 year old engineer (whit a malfunctioning helmet that made him seemingly mute) passing trough his mid life crisis that is solely expressed by grunts as he stomps his way out the space zombie apocalypse, had more character development than Dr. Freeman that is seen has the vanguard of a rebellion and even as a messiah to the one eyed aliens (that don't seem to understand the concept of clothing)! I mean seriously guys! I admit the game had its fun moments. But personally I wouldn't go beyond than just that.
