If you watch my tutorial I explain exactly what an AO map is and I show you what you should use it for :3

In the tutorial I'm texturing metal but as I mention at the end of the video, you can use the sam techniques to create wood, just use wood photosources instead of metal ones.

Another question:

When I was creating my first wall set, I had to adjust the size in maya to make it look good in the level editor. But when I opened the mansion1 wall from amnesia it was huge. How do they scale their wall down?
It's usuallt about the system you use: A lot of times, some people get huge models or really tiny models in their editors: The metric system they apply it's not well. Try playing with those (Meters, for example).

I'm not skilled at Maya, but all the 3d programs have similarities Wink
