I can't make "proper" animated things but - quick notes:
- Smooth skin bind
- Maximum of 3 influences
- Set all local bone joint orientation to Y up(?)
- Paint weights
- Once movement etc. is done Bake animation
For the dedicated one;
create a duplicate skeleton with a proper rig attached to it
a) remove constraints etc. on export
b) (or) have two skeletons. bind the "rigged skeleton" to your "export skeleton" (non-rigged), movement will be the same
