Is there a certain resolution that loading screen images need to be to display correctly? First I tried just a simple image and it worked but it filled the whole screen, so I put a black border around it and it was no longer centred, so i change the resolution and it was even more off centre.

If you mean the images between map transitions, i would use the same size as the originals.

is 700x392. The image is at the center and the rest is a black canvas/border.
Easiest way to do these things is just look for them yourself and open them up in photoshop, GIMP or (What I use) paint.net.
Figuring things out yourself is harder, but more rewarding.
Thanks guys, I decided to go a tad bigger with mine and did 800x450, I think they look OK
