And I was still disappointed.

It turned into a generic horror game (which isn't actually a game at all now because of how much features they removed) with generic vague questions, conclusions, and the lack of a better understanding that The Dark Descent offers. Why? Because it gets straight to the goddamn point while still offering this sense of mystery without that bullshit. All sorts of fear is removed from my system. There is practically little atmospheric qualities and I see everything as a desperate attempt to frighten me. It never works. And the lack of exploring, and the linearity of the game just puts a bad taste in my mouth. Even the notes and journal lacked qualities that TDD so meaningful.
Have you actually played the game? Or did you just watch someone play it over the internet, because that might have a different effect.

Will agree that it gets straight to the point very quickly in terms of story, but to say that it isn't actually a game and that it lacks atmosphere is a very odd claim for you to say. It is impossible to get immersed by watching a video. We only saw the first hour of the game, and the notes make up most of the story more than TDD did. Play the game.

Well, not sure how it is for some people, but even as I watch videos of people playing the game I get immensely scared. In fact, after watching so many The Dark Descent Videos, I was prompted to buy the game a year and a half ago. It doubled the immersion, doubled the scares, and doubled my nope meter.

I still feel immersed with some gameplay vids.
Play the game. You're on the damn forum.

That was a pretty early place to start questioning your post.
I've watched plenty of videos before finally playing TDD this year. Guess what? Totally different experience bro.
Are everyone's knees alright?

Might have to call an orthopedic doctor to give y'all a check up.

I've seen many "suspect" opinions before but you people have outdone yourselves.

Seeing reviews as universal truths and not analyzing them.

Watching flipping lets plays and then saying it's crap because you watched a lets play.

It's astounding the quality of people that are coming out of the woodworks.
Spare me the question of quality.

Ya know what stops me from buying a bad game? Videos on gameplay and shit.
Ya know what makes me want to buy a good game? Gameplay videos and shit.

It's not about if it was a fucking lets play. It didn't matter. And it didn't matter if I watched it or not, if I was not impressed then I was not fucking impressed.
