'FATAL ERROR: Could not load world file 'maps/main/50>'

Above is the error I keep getting as soon as I click 'new game.' I pre-ordered the game and installed it as soon as it came out.

I have:
+Up to date drivers.
+Removed and reinstalled the game five times. :I
+Made new profiles.
+Ran the program as administrator/checked permissions.
+Tried the patch.

I have heard of people using friend's copied folders to fix this problem but I don't know anybody with the game and am unable to try that solution. I was also told that people with the working game don't have that map in their main folder? So it's searching for a map that isn't even supposed to exist.
Have you tried to remove the whole Amnesia/Pig folder in My Documents/ ?

Just tried that. Didn't work sadly! Still getting the same error.
You start the game using the launcher?

Yes, tried both the launcher and the aamfp application. Went through steam as well just to be sure.
Here is a default folder with the settings and user profile created from starting the game the first time. Try that and see if that helps, if so then try to make a new profile and use that.

So unpack this Pig folder and move it to My Documents/Amnesia/ and replace (or first delete) the whole Pig folder there is already.

Dang! Deleted the folder and unzipped the one you gave me into the correct location. Tried it using both the launcher and application. New player file didn't work, still gave me the same error. Made a new profile as well and it still didn't work. ;w;
I know you have reinstalled the game but can you also try and check the cache integrity of the game in Steam. right-click on the game in steam, properties, last tab and there is the option.

Did so a few minutes ago at your request. Steam said that the files were successfully validated.
Can you run the game, click new, have the game crash, then post the hpl.log and the main_settings.cfg from your My Documents/Amnesia/Pig
