So the game was working fine for me untill this steam patch got automatically downloaded. Now I get this error every time I launch the game. Is there any way to revert the patch?
I've tried many things with the launcher settings and also reinstalled my drivers, etc... And nothing works.
Have you always tried to run the game in 1024*768 resolution in fullscreen? It sounds like it tries to set a resolution for the screen that is not supported. Have you tried other resolutions or to run the game in window mode to see if that changes anything?

I've tried many other resolutions and none works, this was the last one I tried, I usually run it at 1280x1024, and it worked before the patch.
edit: I also tried the window mode and didn't work.
Have you tried to verify the cache integrity? Also have you tried running the game by launching the exe instead of starting it from Steam? Any difference?

I've verified the cache integrity with no problems, launching the exe throws the same warning. I've also deleted and reinstalled the game with no changes.
So a window pops up with the warning? Does it say exactly what the topic says?
Sorry for not specifying this but thought all fatal error popped on new windows. When I try to launch amnesia I only get this window with the warning, something like that:

But with a different message.
So the game does not start at all now? Try renaming the folder Documents\Amnesia\Pig to Pig_test and see if you start the game now.

I still get the same result, a new "pig" folder was created with the hpl.log :
At the picture I can see that aero is disabled so judging from the error you are getting, my guess is that your graphics card drivers are corrupted or not installed.
