I was just curious as to the differences of the note and diary entries.

Mainly I ask because I saw implemented in "A Machine for Pigs" Oswald writing down his thoughts in the journal, similar to the mementos, but they were sorted and titled.

Were those notes and the picked up papers diaries?

One is based on audio (i.e. diaries), the other one isn't (i.e. notes).
