Hello handsome people,

Since we have so many talented people on the forum and the tools are being updated right now, i was thinking maybe we could have some little contests.

And if moderators agree, they could handle the contests.
The possible categories may be the following:
  • Best voice acting
  • Best designer
  • Best coder
  • Best fan art
  • Best short horror story writer

Rules and conditions would be decided only by the moderator that picks the category.

So what you say? Would you like to participate? Have any opinion/idea?
Short horror story is the one i would look at.

No problem, we just modify the categories.
How about Best designer becomes Best Level Designer ?
And maybe add Best Modeler ?
I have actually been rolling around with, I would not say an idea, but rather a fantasy of a competition.
It would be a short mod(FC/IFC) competition centered around trying to see if any of us complainers could actually make a scary AAMFP ourself(es).
Therefore the rules for that fantasy competition would be something like this:

Spoiler below!

1. Participants have to use a game.cfg that modifies the character controller to be simular to AAMFP
(the host would upload one for everyone to use)

2. Participants can only use the manpigs from AAMFP, not monsters from TDD or custom ones. You are however allowed to change the settings/properties for the manpigs or other assets if you wish.

3. Does not have to be the same universe but, it must be set in a setting that resembles/is similar to AAMFP.
Therefore it should also mainly use AAMFP assets. Though TDD and custom assets are allowed,
it should be kept to a minimum so no adding in a TDD style dungeon

4. The inventory must be disabled by script:
void SetInventoryDisabled(bool abX);

5. It must at least have a story that goes beyond just being an excuse for the horror.

6. Length is recommended to be 1-3 maps for better quality but you can make it as long as you want. You can also create an unfinished story if you dont want to compress things and if you want just continue working on it after the competition without restrictions.

Felt I just had to share it since the thread was begging me for it, but in reality I am doubtful as to whether or not enough people would be up for a competition with these restrictions unless theres a really good prize, and all I got is a couple game keys.

EDIT: after reading chasers comment I decided to add a spoiler
The worse of this is that, instead me being the coolest at one thing, I'm okay-ish at pretty much all of them (except modelling and level designing, where I'm better) so I can't really choose one.

How about doing it with no AAMFP stuff: I haven't played it yet, (I will, don't worry) and I don't want to see the manpigs before I should...

How about all the ATDD stuff and custom stuff (Penumbra stuff included)
I'm in for the Level design contest.

Although the judges shouldn't only look at how it looks but also on how it performs.
I always try keeping a specific standard on my maps:

"60+ fps on highest settings."
(My personal testing rig: GTX 660 sli, i7 3770k, 16Gb ram)
I know my rig is very good so I also send a copy to my friends with a bit more casual
components so that I can assure that the maps play smooth and without glitches. For
everyone.

Still like the idea of the competition but as Robo said it may cause unwanted drama...
Stuff like Level Design, Horror Story, Character creation contests etc are okay in my book but only because it may help motivate and bring attention to creative creators.
Lol, maybe not that long.
This is what i had in mind when i said short.

Back to topic, it seems there's only a few people looking forward to this.
Plus no moderator showed interest in this, so, sadly, it won't be possible.
