Thrive is an open source game which aims to simulate the entire universe - your way. From the lowly tide pools of your home planet, you will evolve a creature to triumph against your adversaries, gain sentience and blast off to explore distant worlds.

The eventual game will include a wide variety of features, such as population dynamics; a procedural evolution system which automatically evolves AI creatures and allows you to directly edit your own organism, designing not only their look but behaviour and internal organ structures as well; a sandbox mode in which you can edit absolutely everything, unlocked after the space stage; a tech editor to design and test your own tech objects; advanced systems for economics implementing a compound resource tool; and much, much more.

This looks awesome. It reminds me a lot of Spore, one of my favorite games, but with more depth.
Awesome. I'm very interested in the universe and how life is born.
The creatures really looks like other life forms on other planets.

Beautiful music.Angel
Bunch of photoshopped google images, random stock music and some ideas.

They'll have to do better than that to get into my wallet.

Agree.. They have nothing solid. It looks to me as if they haven't even started working on it Smile So their dreams might be too big to accomplish.. Worst case the endresult is something clunky, with a lot of bad unfinished features instead of a few really good ones.

Well, of course this is too early to call - as we haven't seen anything really! ;D

It's open source, and they don't actually seem to be accepting donations. Still, I think this is perhaps a little too ambitious. Best of luck to them though.
If anyone's interested they've released a small in-engine demo.

They ARE working on it idiot! -_-
It's an open source project, how are they supposed to get contributors if they don't promote the project and ask for people to join? In that sense it's a bit arrogant to call out on them for not having anything to show, don't you think?
