Now I'm not sure if you believe me or not, but I've seen steps/stairs made out of planes! that's right planes! the one that you sue to make a floor! now I've seen some custom stories such as mansion 1408 I'm not sure if I spelled that right, and detorcium! they made these planes which look likes stairs! it looks something like this!

Just create a kind of "cube" using 6 planes that you rotate them and they are vertical to each other. Create several "cubes", each one bigger than the other. That way you'll have stairs.
Just add the planes and rotate them? It's like super basic 3D modeling.

Back to the topic, it's very easy, like Traggey said, just put the planes rotate them and scale them to fit them up. You must learn it by yourself, it's not hard, believe me.
They say you can put a table, and get this, rotate it, like facing somewhere else entirely. Totally crazy. Pi+Golden Ratio. ^^
