It seems that JAP does this often. Somebody will post how annoyed they are with peoples' attitudes towards a certain thing, and all his mind seems to notice is the 'certain thing', in which he goes on to act exactly like what you were ranting about.

This is just my personal preference. I hated them because I don't have the same taste. Maybe if I do then maybe I'd like them. Maybe.
They're catchy!
You hear them once. Thinking to yourself, "God! This sucks!".
Later that day you're in school, doing a test, when you stop for a moment realizing that you're sitting there singing "Boy, you've got my heartbeat running away! Beating like a drum and it's coming your way! Can't you hear that Boom badoom boom boom badoom..." And you're thinking stoooooop! Later that day you Youtube the song again, just to hear it again, because it's been stuck in your head...
Beekayk pretty much nailed it right there. I feel like a lot of people take themselves too seriously when listening to pop and that's why so many dismiss it so easily; it's not supposed to be ground breaking or super technical or emotionally moving, it's just fun catchy danceable music. Sure I love music that's innovative and has more depth, but sometimes I need a break from that stuff and just want something that's fun and easy to sing along with. Yes there is a lot of bad pop but dismissing the genre as a whole from any period of time (yes that includes this generation) is pretty damn silly.
Crnfx, ur 2 pleb to undrstand.
I legitimately think I'm better than Kman for not listening to those artists because y'all suck
I concur with Chronofox. Not for any elitist reasons, I just don't have patience for that shit. Not all pop is bad, but the pop that actually is good is well composed and not intended only (or at all) to accompany dancing. I just don't see why I should listen to music that gives me a headache and makes me feel completely neutral emotionally when I could be having a life-changing experience. It's not my fault I'm fatally serious about everything.

this +9000
Also I never understood why people enjoy catchy beats so much. Studies have been done, I believe, on how pop music can put people into a steady and almost hypnotic mood. I'd rather listen to music that allows me to experience a whole range of emotions, as this creates a more rewarding feeling. The pleasure gained from enjoying and understanding a structurally complex piece of music or a composition with a dynamic mélange of emotions is incomparable.
yeah kinda self explanatory right there
catchy =/= good music
I don't even see a correlation.
