Hi!
Computer specs:

Laptop
core: Intel i7-3630QM (4 cores) @ 2.4 GHz
graphics card: nVidia GeForce 740M (2GB memory)
RAM: 8GB

Now, I would think that these specs are good enough for High graphic settings for the game, though that is not the case. Especially when I record with Fraps, the frame rate drops dramatically from time to time. Even on Medium quality the game lags. Does anyone have ideas why this is?

Thanks in advance!
Fraps is a resource hog, but I don't see why it drops that dramatically with your specs. Might be some settings with it. Have you used Fraps a lot for other games?

Yeah, I've recorded TTD and Penumbra but with a worse computer, though it worked fine.
Have you set Fraps to record at 60 fps? Sounds like a silly question, but if it is not, that could be the problem.. Tongue
Oh, and don't forget resolution. A high resolution is way tougher to record smoothly than a lower one. If you have a big monitor, perhaps that's the problem, so I suggest you run the game in 720p resolution when recording (it's the optimal resolution for Youtube gameplays).
Does the game stutter even without Fraps? Even when running on good hardware, make sure to have everything on max except SSAO Quality which has to remain at Medium if I remember correctly. High is extremely heavy with no visual improvement at all.
