Quote:Dear Mr. BAndrew:
Knowing of your support for an open and accessible internet, I wanted to let you know that I have signed onto Senator Ed Markey’s letter to the FCC regarding proposed rulemaking on net neutrality. As our letter indicates, I firmly believe that Title II reclassification is the best way to for us to preserve the internet as an open and unfettered tool for communication, education and the sharing of ideas. My colleagues and I have urged Chairman Wheeler and the Commission to consider the significant public input that they have already received, as well as how important it is that the Commission promulgates final rules consistent with the principles of an open internet by using Title II reclassification.

I believe that access to the internet should be affordable and readily available to all Americans, and I am glad that the FCC is leaving all options on the table while developing a way to ensure that the Internet remains free and open to everyone. I have urged the FCC to listen to the voices of the thousands of New Yorkers who have commented on the proposed rule, and urge them to use their authority under Title II of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to preserve the internet as a place for free and open communication. The already overwhelming response to the proposed FCC rule underscores just how important this question is to Americans in their everyday lives, and I will continue to fight to ensure that their voices are heard, and to protect net neutrality for all.

Again, thank you for contacting me about this important issue. Please feel free to contact me in the future if I can be of further assistance on this or any other matter.

Sincerely,

Charles E. Schumer
United States Senator

Recently I got the above e-mail from Charles E. Schumer, a United States Senator (I googled him so he is not fake) and I don't understand what's going on here. Facts are:
  • I am not an American and I don't live or have ever lived in the United States. I also don't have any citizenship or whatever.
  • I don't know him
  • I never send anything like this to anyone and for sure I didn't contact any "Charles E. Schumer", so:
    1. How does he know that my nickname is BAndrew?
    2. How does he know my e-mail adress?
    3. Why does he say "thank you for contacting me" although I never did? Why did he send me this e-mail?
  • I am not into a campaing for free Internet/net neutrality or anything like that.
  • I don't understand what he's talking about and what all this has to do with me.

I am totally confused... What is going on here?

Thought of that too, but let's assume he found the address randomly (like some bots do) then how do you explain the fact that he knows my nickname "BAndrew"?

do you have the nick "bAndrew" set as a nick for your email or YT account or something too? If not, then that's creepy
I just checked and I don't have the same nickname neither on google, youtube or my e-mail (also add facebook and twitter on that list).

What the hell?

I only use this nickname on some video games and probably on a few sites or forums.
Have you ever signed any online petition using the nickname BAndrew and your email address?

No. If I had, it would be pretty obvious for me, wouldn't it?
