All I'm wondering about SOMA at the moment is when is it going to be available on steam soon... and also if the stuff in it will be true to that theory I was writing a while back.

He means done as a complete package. There is still playtesting left to catch bugs and such. I say add 1-2 month to these 4 weeks + some time that usually being taken by release window opportunity according to market research. June-July I guess? My prediction was September. Close enough :P
I would like to have a game with a "puzzle" where the player has to win a chess battle to open a box with a key or an other relevant item. It challenges the players mind. A puzzle where there is no specific solution (put item a into object b and operate lever c). Rather it depends on everyones individual talent. Chess is a really good game and fits very well in a horror game. No matter whether its relevant or just optional. But it would be a nice mini game like Schmup in Penumbra.
But chess is booring~
Who would you play chess with in an undersea base where everyone is probably dead?

In all seriousness though, it would be refreshing to see some more interesting puzzles, as opposed to "Take object A to destination B and turn lever C."
I like the idea of a more open-ended puzzle that rewards different and diverse lines of thinking, but putting a full blown chess game in the middle of a video game as a puzzle may be far too distracting from the overall experience.

Also another thing to keep in mind is that using such a puzzle is almost 0% idiot proof, since not everyone playing the game would know how to play chess in the first place.
Personally, I am looking forward to the possibility of puzzles with multiple solutions. Gives slightly alternate methods of completion and allows for experimentation and challenges for players with different ways of thinking.
I just would like to have non script based puzzles where everyone simply has to find out the correct solution. I prefer puzzles that are less scripted and more challenging the players individual intelligence. A puzzle where there is no "right" or "wrong", rather based on mental knowledge and logics.
A chess game is a good example for such a challenge.
